With Scotch No. 41 Splicing Tape you can make noise-free and permanent splices

Splicing is easy with Scotch No. 41 Splicing Tape, made especially for splicing Scotch Magnetic tapes. Its clean white pressure sensitive thermosetting adhesive will not ooze and cause sticky splices when applied to magnetic tape. When splicing use a Scotch accessory kit - ideal for all on the spot splicing and editing.

Place the first length of tape on the splicer so that the end overlaps the diagonal slit by approx. 1". Lock the left clamp down. Now place the second length from the right so that the end overlaps the diagonal slit also. Lock the right clamp. Make sure that the shiny side of the tape is uppermost.

Cut the tape with the blade moving along the diagonal slit. Remove surplus tape.

Stick about 1" of Scotch No. 41 Splicing tape over the cut, pressing firmly to remove air pockets.

Cut away any tape that protrudes over the edge of the Magnetic Tape by applying the blade to the two lateral stets as illustrated.

TAPE TIPS!

Like all first class products Scotch Magnetic Tape gives the best results when properly treated. In order to make sure that both you and your tape recorder get the best possible recordings the following tips should be noted :

Remove sticky tab holding down end of tape before using.

If a tape has been stored for a long time since last played rewind it once before using.

Always replace reels in polythene bags after use. Dust and dirt can spoil a tapes performance. Dirty recorder heads cause muffled recordings.

Regularly clean heads, guides capstan and pressure pulley.

Make sure that the matt side of the tape faces inwards so that it comes into contact with the recording head. The shiny side will not record.

Always ask for Scotch MAGNETIC TAPE by name-do not accept substitutes.
